A couple of years ago, on behalf of a client, we at Geneva Global began to investigate some ground-breaking programs Strømme Foundation, a Norwegian-based non-profit organization, had developed in partnership with local non-profits in Mali and Bangladesh.
After two years of independent evaluation, we can say with confidence that these ground-breaking, innovative programs offer an unusually good philanthropic investment opportunity.
Strømme Foundation, recognizing the exceptional impact of these programs, are ready to significantly scale them up to benefit many more children and young women living in some the world’s most economically impoverished communities.
As an independent advisor to donors, Geneva Global thinks very hard before recommending any one organization or its programs as being particularly deserving of funding. However, we have been so impressed with the quality, effectiveness, and impact of these programs, implemented by local non-profit partners with oversight from Strømme Foundation’s regional offices, that we are making an exception in this case.
We are proud to partner with Strømme Foundation and announce the launch of the New Future Funds.
Speed School
Strømme Foundation's Speed School program in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger (West Africa) was designed to provide access to education to more than three million children who are excluded from the education system in three of the world’s poorest and least developed countries.
Education is one of the most effective tools to fight poverty. Without it, these children have little hope of a brighter future.
Similarly, Strømme Foundation's Shonglap program in Bangladesh is providing education and training to an often excluded segment of the population – adolescent girls. And like Speed School, Shonglap isn’t just changing these girls’ lives, it is changing the communities where they live as well.
